Step one begins with a telephone call to your city or town’s Building Inspector’s office. Most cities and towns have rules and regulations for above ground swimming pools. They can also have specific rules pertaining to your land, for example a rule that may prohibit building a pool close to wetlands. You want to ask them specific questions like; “How far away from property lines does a pool needs to be?” or “How far from my septic system does the pool need to be?” It is up to you, the consumer, to check for any specific rules and regulations pertaining to your town and yard.
Step two provides the option of choosing an oval or a round pool. Round pools come in sizes ranging from 15 foot to 30 foot round. Oval pools range in size from 12 feet by 17 feet to 18 feet by 33 feet. Your choice of a round pool versus an oval pool will be based upon your town rules and your personal choice.
The third step will have you exploring the different types of above ground swimming pools. Your choices are Aluminum semi-In Ground, Aluminum sheet wall, Resin, Steel or a Hybrid pool. Please refer to our video titled, “Types of Above Ground Pools”. In this video we describe each type of pool and provide you highlights of the pools.
Next, in step number four you will choose the components that fall under the category of pool equipment. This equipment includes pool liners, filtration system, sanitation systems and pool entry systems. All of these are just as important as the pool itself and deserve your attention. This is also where you select pool accessories like pool lighting and an automatic pool cleaner. Remember the Above Ground Pool Builder is here to help you every step of the way.
